Thank you to everyone who joined us for our mass testing event!

COVID-19-testing_1080x1080We appreciate all those that turned out to be tested on May 28th, 2020 at the Fairgrounds. The community response was wonderful!

Due to the overwhelming response to the mass testing event, only those with a positive test result and those that marked themselves as symptomatic will be called with their results. A Nixle message is going out that will inform those who participated of this, as well. Please, if you have questions or need a copy of your results for work or another purpose, call the Health Department at 733-6401.

Please keep in mind that this is a “point in time” test: you may still contract the virus at another time. Because it is active disease testing, it also does not tell you if you had the disease in the past.

Due to the large volume of tests, we are still pending some results and are currently unable to post the data from the testing.

We can say that the results so far indicate mostly negative (COVID-19 not detected) results. Additionally, we know that the majority of those that tested were asymptomatic. While the people who tested at the mass testing event self-selected to test, this does give us an indication that what we have been doing is working! With our community seeing increased tourism this summer, the concern for imported cases is high, so please continue to wash your hands frequently, keep a physical distance where possible, sanitize high use areas, and wear a mask when you aren’t able to distance.

Testing is an important mechanism to know what is going on in our community: the more people we test, the better snapshot we will have of disease spread.  This event will help us to identify positive individuals (even individuals without symptoms) for COVID-19, so that we can quickly conduct contact tracing to help identify their close contacts and slow the spread of the disease. Please join us for this testing event, and support our efforts to keep our whole community safe and healthy as restrictions ease in the Statewide Health Orders.
