[ARCHIVED] Winter Service Levels Update 2/4/21

ice rinks 2020

The Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department continues to work with local partners and the community to provide winter outdoor opportunities.  All ice rinks in the valley are open and in good shape: Fairgrounds, Owen Bircher, Powderhorn and Alta.  We are getting into the time of year when we can see some warm storms and drastic changes in temperatures.  We will continue maintain them as long as the weather cooperates.  All is dependent on snowfall and our snow removal operations which take priority.   Check out our website at the following location for updates, hours of operations and reservation information including a calendar of reservations and open skate times: http://www.tetonparksandrec.org/1355/Ice-Rinks.  You can also sign up for our ice rink updates on Twitter (@TCJPRrinks) which is linked to the website as well.

Snow depths are finally really good around the valley after last week’s storm.  Everything is getting groomed on our normal schedule and there seems to be a lot of folks on the trails.  We have received some calls regarding pets and conflicts on some of our trails.  Friendly reminder to please be respectful of other users.  Leash your dog in areas that it is required: Cache Creek and Game Creek.  Dogs are not allowed in Town Parks and Teton County School District Property so please refrain from taking your pet into May Park and the groomed loop at the Middle School/Elementary area.  All other areas require voice control over your pet and leashes are encouraged.  This is the time of year when spooking or running wildlife can really impact their chances of survival through the winter so be sure “you know before you go” about closures and leash requirements.  The Bridger-Teton National Forest website is great place for information: https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/btnf/maps-pubs

Please continue to check our website and/or Twitter feed (@TCJPRGrooming) for the most up to date information on conditions: http://www.tetonparksandrec.org/1353/Grooming-Report
